Pakistan under-19 thrashed their Zimbabwe counterparts by 120 runs in the opening match of the Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament in South Africa.

Captain Babar Azam top-scored with a 101-ball 85 to help Pakistan post a commendable 265 for nine opting to bat first. Umar Waheed (63) scored the only other half-century of the innings, a 49-ball knock late in the innings, as Zimbabwe checked Pakistan’s progress in the second half.

In reply, Zimbabwe never posted a serious challenge, crumbling midway through the innings with opener Luke Masasire’s 54 going in vain. Ziaul Haq  picked up three wickets for Pakistan, while Usman Qadir bagged two.
