“The report includes the commission’s findings as well as recommendations by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists for the journalist community and financial assistance to Shahzad’s family,” said Pervaiz Shoukat, PFUJ president and a member of the probe commission.
The commission was constituted by the government on June 16, 2011, six weeks after Shahzad’s mutilated body was found in Mandi Bahauddin. Shahzad went missing from Islamabad on May 29 only to be found murdered a day later. It was supposed to submit a report within six weeks but following inexplicable delays, the report was presented by the commission’s secretary six months later.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on July 16th, 2011 obtained by The Express Tribune read: "S.RO. (I)/2011 –Whereas the heinous murder of Saleem Shahzad, a journalist has taken place and cause and circumstances leading to are to be ascertained."
The commission, headed by Supreme Court Justice Saqib Nisar, met through June 2011 and January 2012 to compile the report. It interviewed journalists, intelligence officers, human rights activists and Shahzad’s widow. It also examined CCTV coverage of the highway where Shahzad’s car was found.
Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly noted the date of the commissions formation as June 21. This has been corrected. The error is regretted.

Report should be made public without any delay .
It is an open secret who killed Shahzad, will the report dare to name them???
Murder of a journalist does not threaten our sovereignty or security; rather it strengthens our security state especially if the murder is of a person like Saleem Shahzad... so this commission report, even if made public, would not shed any light on the criminals; there will be no arrests, no trial, no sentence... the final verdict...Saleem Shahzad was not murdered at all..
It's better to keep the report secret as any implication of ISI involvement would mean take over of the country!
journalists have lot of enemies who take advantage of such opportunities, he might have angered some one in the past and he availed the opportunity to kill him and the responsibility automatically came on usual suspects the ISI which under the circumstances is a fair judgement but might not be true.
So did the commission find and catch 'who did it' ?
Or was it not the purpose of the commission !
Dream on. Push for the report and if that could happen, the army barracks will open and take over the civilian government, muzzle the judiciary and at an appropriate time appoint a puppet in Imran Khan.
The report will not be made pablic but we all know who has done it and why.
Who are we kidding....Let me guess about outcome Report will be either inconclusive OR it wont see light of day if there is even a hint of ISI involvement.
Make the report public? Who are you kidding, man?
We demand, as people, that this report be mader public and level the charges against those who are responsible for the murder of one of the best journalists in the country.
I wish they make the report public.
Any insight into the findings of the report or if/when the report will be made public?
