Digital tribute: SALU launches website for Sachal Sarmast

SUKKUR: The Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) of Khairpur has set up a website, sachalchair.com, on the renowned Sufi saint and poet, Sachal Sarmast. It has also set up a souvenir shop and published five books on his life.

The books published by the Sachal Chair are Raag, Sufi and Sindh, Sachal Sarmast Jay Kalam mein Khudi jo Tassawur, Sachal Sarmast aien Sandas Ishq Nama, Shaheed-e-Haq and Mysticism Sindh and Sachal Sarmast. They have been written by Dr Tanveer Abbasi, Mohammad Ali Hadad, Dr Nabi Bux Qazi, Bedal Masroor and Prof. Ayaz Gul.

Prof. Dr Nilofer Shaikh, the vice chancellor of the university, said that Sachal Sarmast’s message of peace, love and tolerance can be promoted to the world through the website. She also suggested that CDs of his teaching be put out in the market.

At the museum people can see rare manuscripts on the subject and the contribution of several famous scholars and researchers. The Sachal Chair was established in June 1988 at the university.
