K-P) government is working on a plan to restore the Malam Jabba ski resort

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government is working on a plan to restore the Malam Jabba ski resort according to provincial minister for forests and environment, Wajid Ali Khan.
Located 45 kilometres from Mingora, the ski resort was destroyed by militants who also bombed the PTDC hotel and the chairlifts. Malam Jabba which is 9,000 feet above sea level, was popular with domestic and foreign skiers and contributed to Swat’s economy.
To restore its original grandeur, the minister said the provincial government has approved a project worth Rs450 million for promotion of forestry in Swat including Malam Jabba and maximum plantation would be carried out in the upcoming spring season.
Khan said reconstruction of roads and bridges worth Rs600 million is under way in Swat besides reinforcement of walls and pavement of seasonal nullahs at a cost of Rs300 million.
