Deputy Managing Director Captain Junaid Younis said that the reduction in fares is a New Year's present from the national carrier to the people of Pakistan.
The night coach scheme will allow PIA to earn revenue amounting to Rs3 to 4 million, from flights between Lahore and Islamabad.
Younis also said that PIA soon plans to start night coach from Multan as well.
Earlier it was reported that PIA had suffered losses worth Rs100 billion over the past three years.
Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar had also said that the government was reviewing the fleet loans. It was also working on capital financing cost and a plan was being made to reduce the interest rate, he added.

@A. Khan: What an impulsive comment! If PIA was really commercial they would stop flying to Gilgit, Chirtal, Gawadar, Panjgur and many other stations.
Why is government arranging loans for PIA ? Its a commercial enterprise although one owned mainly by government. Let the executives, drawing fat salaries and benefits earn their keep. If they cannot do this, they should be fired. It is a commercial organization not an employment exchange. Same applies to all the sifarshi employees.
Personally, my feeling is that PIA should have been put to pasture around 20 years ago. Government would have saved hundreds of billions of rupees, which should have been utilized in education, potentially earning many billions indirectly. Private companies could have run airlines much more efficiently. Air Blue is a good example of this.
Compitition is good hahahahhahahahahahah jaye indus air line...
what about child's fare?
New Year’s present.. Wah...
Good to see the come back of PIA night coaches. Should enable PIA to squeeze some much needed revenue off the few years of service that the 747 fleet has got remaining.
