The hike in gas prices is due to a 14% increase in gas prices by OGRA and imposition of Gas Development Surcharge.

Liquefied petroleum gas prices were once again increased by Rs10 to Rs15 per kilogramme on Monday, according to Express News.

The major hike in gas prices is reportedly a combination of two specific charges – a 14% increase in gas prices determined by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, and the imposition of a Gas Development Surcharge to generate funds for import projects. Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar said that LPG price in Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA, Balakot, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Azad Kashmir and Swat will be between Rs160 to Rs175 per kg and domestic cylinder of 11.8kg would be available between Rs1,870 to Rs2,050. Price of the fuel is the higher in the northern parts of the country due to transport costs.

This is the second hike in LPG prices in less than a week.
