During his Sunday’s address at the ceremonies on the second day of Bahauddin Zakariya’s urs, Qureshi had said that the decision about forming an alliance with Musharraf will be taken after considering the circumstances. On Monday, however, he denied having said that, saying he had been mistaken. Trying to clarify the false impression that PTI might form an alliance with Musharraf, Qureshi said that no such coalition with the All Pakistan Muslim League will happen under any circumstances.
In an exclusive talk with The Express Tribune, Qureshi said that the party was faced with a flood of people wanting to join the PTI, so it did not need any coalition.
“We cannot unite with parties that have been rejected by the people of Pakistan. The APML is one of them,” he said.
Earlier, Qureshi addressed the media on the last day of the urs celebrations. Sunni Tehreek president Sarwat Ijaz Qadri was also present.

I suggest PTI should go for seat adjustment with Sunni Tehreek as it has its well organized structure till the grass root level which will help both the parties..
wait till Musharraf lands in Pakistan this month.. every body will be shocked.. first time a man who has cases and is chased by the govt and opposition both over stupid charges will be returning back.... . who is living a respectable life givign lectures to top universities.. nawaz came when wind supporrted him.. benazir came when wind suported her.. today wind is not in favour of musharraf.. govt + judiciary are after his neck....thats the quallity of a shaheen it goes against the wind and rises to a level no one can reach....
TIME WILL TELL MUSHARRAF IS THE BEST LEADER FOR PAKISTAN
Funny...50% of the strength of PTI is currently made up of parties "rejected by the people of Pakistan". APML is not even tested uncle!! Yea PTI has surely lost a number of elections in the past :)
@Godfather: You mean earth will shake . Correct??
To correct Qureshi, APML is not a "rejected" party as it was formed barely over a year ago. But yes, Qureshi belonged to a rejected party - PPPP. In other words, a rejected politician left a rejected political party and then joined another rejected party which only recently is gaining support after 15 years.
So what is his problem even if PTI allies with a "rejected" party?
@zia ur rehman: And PTI is the new Q League...
A countrys success is judged on political, economic, social, technological analysis. Keeping this in mind If we base a decision on political/economic/social/technological statistics between the Musharraf n zardari govts then musharrafs govt has performed far better. Interms of foreign policy there has been no difference in policies of musharaf n zardari govt. therefore Democracy isnt an indicator for success of a nation. China isnt a democracy? So democracy or no democracy..the key is a honest leadership which is able to deliver political, economic, social n technological stability to its people. Therefore PTI should work in alliance any honest party be it musharraf or anyone else.
That was quick. Maybe these people actually listen to the people
I have spoken to SMQ. He has denied the tribune story. He never said anything about considering an alliance with Musharraf. - Shafqat Mahmood , Information Secretary PTI
“An alliance with him or his party should not even be considered as a rumour.” LOL! Lotas will be Lotas( sort of like "boys will be boys"), did not take long for SMQ to change his publicly given statement in Multan. PTI already has enough of the Musharraf's PML-Q lotas. Once these pml-q lotas win in election they will blackmail PTI for Musharraf's inclusion. Then what? PTI would not give in to pml-q's demand just to have some authority/numbers in the next senate/government? Remember how MQM has been able to get what it wants ffrom the PPP, even with small numbers of elected members?
Everything was fine with PTI until IK decided to bring on SMQ on board. Yes in the short term you have poked PPP in the eye, but in the long term he is going to be more of a liability then asset for the party. Expect more blunders from him in the future.
I wonder what musharafs old buddy Kasuri thinks about this issue?
@Khurshid Kasuri: don't know about PTI, but PPP and PMLn are reaching their inevitable end, because of their failures to deliver for the masses...
good. SMQ never said that. ET print his statement wrong. because no other newspaper print the news.
Musharraf has done a lot better job then the current elected governement in Pakistan. It will be great if PTI and him join forces to stabilize Pakistan.
PTI Leadership, tripped the weigh bridge scale many times over....there is no worldcup in winning hearts and minds just in fifteen years....time is of the essence..call for snipp elections,How can bedfellows NawazZardari live withthemselves...give back our selfrespect at Home and Abroad ,kick NATO out now...
@Godfather: ditto.
Musharraf going to be THE best for pakistan Imran Khan and Musharraf team up togather will be good if it happened otherwise my humble thinking is that Musaharraf is not dishonest man we had good economy and strong rupee. He did work hard for pakistan. I think we should support him and Imran Khan to formed a govt.
Be prepared for a political earthquake the moment Musharraf lands in Pakistan.
I think I know what happend here..At first time when he made the statement That alliance with Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League would be taken in time after considering all circumstances. He would have said it in sarcastically in his usual style :P...But Media Ofcource...:-|
It's the end of the PTI as we knew it!
IK supported Mush's referendum at one stage. I think SMQ was asked to make this statement so PTI could get a feel of the market. I think they are making it up as they go along. Hotch potch of turncoats - 'winnable candidates' that is all they want, no principles.
Thankyou ET for publishing the truth...PTI had denied the story last night..
Thank god for this clarification! After writing a whole chapter on how Musharraf intentionally destroyed the country joining him would have been compromising on Imran's vision itself and not on the means to the vision - such as some of the dubious 'electables' he has accepted. By the way Mush probably will never return and is just trying to hold on to the official protocol he gets in Dubai and London by givnign the impression he is still potentially viable.
How come if SMQ really said this that only ET was able to pick it up and it was not featured in any of the other newspapers. Seems more like ET understood him wrongly the first time round. Thank you for the clarification.
@Imran: qureshi considers that a spinning talent and takes pride in that. I'm sure IK is proud to have him by his side too.
IK must have told SMQ to forget mushy
Appreciated.....good decision not to commit a suicide
Statements, Denials, Counter-Statements, U-Turns, Lies.... The cornerstone of the politics of Mr. Shah Mahmood Qureshi. We don't know what to believe, Mr. Qureshi!
