KARACHI: Federal Minister for Interior Affairs, Rehman  Malik,  announced on Friday that abandoned  children including orphans living in Edhi Homes and other registered shelter homes in the country will get free of cost Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) and passports. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been directed to accept registration forms for eligible children.  Malik was speaking at the Bilquees Edhi Child Home in Karachi. Abdul Sattar Edhi, who had contacted Malik to find a solution, was also present. “I put up this very important issue before President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani who extended full support and were kind enough to relax the NADRA registration rules for these children,” Edhi said.
