PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday appointed district police officer (DPO) Upper Dir, to investigate an alleged swara case of a four-year-old and adjourned the hearing till further orders. A two-member bench comprising PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth directed the DPO to complete the investigation process at the earliest and submit the inquiry report. The court passed the orders after the police produced five suspects charged by Hafizur Rehman, the victim’s brother. However, the suspects rejected the petitioner’s claims. The chief justice observed that no one is above the law and swara was against Islamic laws and customs. The court ordered the police to ensure strict security for the girl and her family.
