Law Enforcement: Gorchani calls for effective policing

KARACHI: The Karachi police chief directed his officers to devise a comprehensive policing plan for each of the five districts in the city to curb street crime and step up vigilance. According to a handout issued on Wednesday, Karachi AIG Akhtar Hussain Gorchani directed the SHOs to compile data about the population, educational institutes, mosques and hospitals that are present in their jurisdictions. It will then be submitted to the SSP concerned for finalising the district policing plan, Gorchani said at a meeting. He also asked the police officers to take the business community and civil society members on board when devising the plan. He directed the SHOs to ensure compilation of crime registers on a daily basis as per the rules.
