Shahra-E-Faisal: Baby girl dies as fire erupts in slums

KARACHI: A one-year-old baby girl identified as Aafia died as a fire erupted in a slum near Chapel City apartments at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, said the Shara-e-Faisal police. They added that nearly 70 huts were burnt to ash. The fire brigade sent three fire tenders as soon as they found out. They said that around 30 huts were completely burnt by the time they got there. They added that they had to send for back up. According to the fire brigade they sent three extra fire tenders and the fire was extinguished in two hours. So far no one knows what caused the fire but the police suspect it was because of a gas cylinder. However an investigation is under way.
