Aqeel cruises into tennis semi-final
Top-seed to face Ashiq, Yasir to take on Qamar in other semi.
Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan will take on Heera Ashiq today in the Subhe Nau Hardcourt Tennis Championship semi-finals, while second-seed Yasir Khan will face Nomi Qamar in the other last-four clash.
Aqeel stormed past Talha Zubair 6-0, 6-1 in the quarter-final, while Ashiq outplayed Haris Iltifat 6-2, 6-2. Yasir downed Syed Zohair Raza 6-4, 6-4, with former Davis Cupper Qamar outclassing Vinod Dar 6-2, 6-2 for a semi-final spot.
In the women’s event, Maheen Dada beat Vania Khan 6-1, 6-1, while Urooj Iftikhar cruised past Neha Khan 6-2, 6-2 in the round matches.
Meanwhile, Emmanuelle Anwar defeated Aqeel Shabbir 6-1, 6-1 for a berth in the boys’ under-18 quarter-finals.
