CM announces Rs7b package for Charsadda

Flood-affected people to be paid second installment soon.

Addressing a public meeting in Charsadda, Chief Minister  (CM) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Hoti said there was only room for a “red revolution” in the province.


He said, “We don’t believe in mobile public meetings in which people from 10 districts are brought to one pace to put on a big show.” He announced Rs2 billion for the establishment of Bacha Khan University at Charsadda and two new colleges.

The chief minister assured uniform development for the entire province, countering the impression of spending uplift funds of other districts in Mardan, Charsadda and Swabi.

He discussed projects currently under way in the district. Construction work is in progress on three degree colleges at Tangi, Umerzai and Dargai at a cost of Rs700 million. Similarly, schools are being upgraded. Rs900 million have been spent on construction of roads during the last three years .

A district headquarters hospital at Charsadda has been built at a cost of Rs370 million. The CM said Rs 520 million have been allocated for health projects and Rs300 million for ‘Tameer-e-Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

He said Rs 962.5 million have been distributed as a first installment among 48000 families affected by floods at Charsadda while in the second phase they will be paid Rs1.980 billion. Work is also in progress on Munda Headworks at a cost of Rs870 million and Tangi Irrigation Scheme for Rs34 million.

Under the presidential package Rs600 million have been approved for one year for the district, he added.

he said today we have sufficient resources generated through provincial autonomy and payment of arrears of net hydel profits.
