LAHORE: The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has established a new 220KV grid station at Wapda Town besides achieving an overall 85% work progress on another station of the same capacity on Ghazi Road to help reduce outages in the domain of Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco), said Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) and NTDC Managing Director Rasul Khan Mahsud on Friday.

The NTDC was extending and improving the country’s power transmission system by increasing electricity generation through new and upgraded projects.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded project commenced on July 1, 2008 and would soon be inaugurated formally, he added.

He said the Wapda Town grid station would cater to growing demand of all consumer categories, particularly of Wapda Town and its adjoining housing societies along with New Kot Lakhpat area.

The grid will reduce load from 220/132KV transformers at New Kot Lakhpat, Bund Road and Ravi grid stations especially in summer season, besides improving the voltage and supply reliability that would ultimately reduce line losses and ensure availability of additional electricity.
