SYDNEY:
Chris Gayle smashed a record-breaking ton to power Sydney Thunder to a six-wicket win over the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash league. The Strikers, who at one point were 52 for four, were able to put up a total of 155 after Johan Botha made 41 to prevent a complete batting disaster. However, Gayle made a mockery of the target as he cracked 11 sixes – the most in a single T20 innings in Australia – in a whirlwind 54-ball unbeaten century to take his side home with nine balls to spare.
