LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Thursday cancelled the interim bails of two suspects in an illegal kidney transplant case. Judge Husnain Qadir Ghalloo’s Thursday’s latest ruling came five months after the last hearing of the case. The court had awarded bails to Dr Sanaullah and Dr Imranul Haq on July 22 and July 26 respectively against Rs50,000 surety bounds each. During this time, the bail petitions were transferred from his court to Sheraz Kiani’s and Sana Khan Attique’s courts and back to his court. Since the last hearing, counsel for the accused had been seeking time from the courts stating that he was not ready. On Thursday, the counsel said that his clients were innocent and had been implicated in a false case. However, the prosecution told the court that the accused were criminals. The judge then dismissed the interim bails of the accused. On July 2, a case was registered against 11 people, including four doctors, at North Cantonment police station by one Muhammad Riaz. Riaz said that the accused were involved in illegal kidney transplants, and had set up a clinic at a house in Al Faisal Town. He had told the court that the accused had also taken away from him the money he had offered initially for a transplant. He had however backed out fearing his life. Nine people were arrested in the case.
