Cricket: Ponting, Hussey need to score: Waugh

MELBOURNE: Former Australia batsman Mark Waugh has warned Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey that they could be facing their last series in the Test team should they fail to score runs against India. “Ponting and Hussey are both great players,” said Waugh. “Their records are superb, but they need runs. By their own high standards they’ve been well short of the mark. They need to score otherwise they’ll be looking over their shoulders.” The 128-Test veteran added that it was unfortunate to see batsman Usman Khawaja dropped for the opening Test. “I feel sorry for Khawaja because he’s looked good apart from the second Test against the Kiwis,” he said.
