ISLAMABAD:

Families of 42 police officials, who lost their lives in the line of duty on Wednesday, were provided sewing machines and cheques. These items were distributed under Prime Minister’s special package by Goodwill Ambassador for Women Empowerment Syeda Fiza Batool Gilani, daughter of Prime Minsiter (PM) Yousaf Raza Gilani.

In a ceremony held at Islamabad Police Lines Headquarters Gilani, accompanied by special assistant to prime minister Shehnaz Wazir Ali, met the wives and children of the fallen police officials.  “The [fallen] cops of the Islamabad police force have left behind memories and examples that will continue to inspire others in the fight against terrorism,” said Gilani.

She added that though there can be “no compensation for the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation”, the government is trying to provide maximum relief and financial support to the bereaved families through PM’s package, which includes educational expenses and house rents. Their kins are also being provided jobs in the police department, she added.
