MULTAN: Education institutes in the southern districts of the Punjab have lagged behind those in the rest of the country partly because of the insufficient attention paid to sports at these institutes, Bahauddin Zakriya University vice chancellor Dr Khawaja Alqama said on Tuesday. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the annual sports at the university. He said at the BZU they would pay equal, if not more, attention to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. He said youth participation in sports in southern Punjab was lower than the rest of the country. He said the BZU was also considering to increase the number of students enrolled in its various degree programmes on the sports quota.
