According to information provided by the ICC, the series-win earned Pakistan one ratings point, putting it at par with Sri Lanka on 99 points. However, Pakistan has been placed above Sri Lanka after the ratings were calculated beyond the decimal point. This is the team’s best ranking since March 2009 when it had reached fifth for a brief period.
Pakistan now trail fourth-ranked Australia, who go into a four-Test series against India next week, by four points. Currently, the only way Pakistan can move into fourth position is if Australia suffer a whitewash India’s hands.
Pakistan’s next Test assignment is against top-ranked England. The three-Test series will start in the UAE on January 17. England lead Pakistan by 26 ratings points.
Ajmal leading wicket-taker in 2011
Meanwhile, off-spinner Saeed Ajmal claimed nine wickets in the two Tests to round off his year with 50 wickets from eight matches. He is the highest wicket-taker in 2011 so far, with India’s Ishant Sharma placed second with 41 wickets from 11 matches.
Ajmal is ranked eighth in the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings.

@Concerned:
"See the dirty political game BCCI is playing in ICC against Pakistan through Mr Pawar and its cronies like Mr Haroon Lugart". Since when Mr. Haroon Logart is an Indian?
A whitewash by India certainly might help our ranking as we could sneak ahead of australia (quite an achievement for us! I dont remember the last time that happened), but more importantly we have to do well against england, otherwise whitewash or no whitewash we will slip to 6th behind sri lanka who are level on points with us.
So yeah go India! beat the arrogant aussies, and go Pakistan!!! time for revenge for last year! Play like tigers! we are behind you.
Don't expect Pakistanies to pray for Indian victory let alone whitewash. We have learnt not to pray for something impossible. I am sure even you guys yourself are not expecting even a win after England whitewash.
Yes, we are looking forward to a well fought series.
forget india and australia. we need to concentrate on beating england for the move upwards on the ladder
I have nothing against India but when Bajji and srisanth weep and sob after a defeat that looks awesome
@Raj: To be honest the average Pakistan cricket fan could really care less about test rankings, let alone what Australia and India do to each other!
@Raj: May be Indians are more concerned for demeaning Paksitani Team in any way than Pakistanies for Indians. See the dirty political game BCCI is playing in ICC against Pakistan through Mr Pawar and its cronies like Mr Haroon Lugart. We hope a first time series win by Indian team in Australia rather whitewash the Australians.
