“It’s not only horror films that didn’t work this year. There are many others that didn’t either,” Deol said.
A number of horror films have been released in India this year including Click, Phoonk 2, Shaapit, Hide and Seek and Rokk. None of them made an impact at the box office.
“Every Friday when your film is about to release, you are scared. You don’t want to be around because you don’t know what’s going to happen,” he said.
Deol, the son of veteran Indian actor Dharmendra, has not delivered a hit since Dostana (2008), which he had a supporting role in. He made his debut in 1995 with Barsaat opposite Twinkle Khanna.
Bobby Deol’s next film is titled Help and has been directed by debutant Rajeev Viran who narrates the story of a malevolent spirit that refuses to leave the human world. While the actor will be playing the role of a successful horror film director in the movie, Fashion star Mugdha Godse will feature as his wife.
Help is scheduled to release on August 13.
Deol is working on two more films - Yamla Pagla Deewana and Thank You. While Yamla Pagla Deewana will see him reuniting on screen with his father Dharmendra and elder brother Sunny, in Thank You he will be seen with Sonam Kapoor and Akshay Kumar.
