LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday adjourned till January 16 the hearing on a petition seeking disqualification of Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa for his alleged involvement in political activities and misuse of government funds.

On the previous hearing, the high court had sought the assistance of the Punjab advocate general and a deputy attorney general to decide the maintainability of the petition.

However, the deputy attorney general was not available and the court deferred the hearing. Advocate Afaq Ahmad alleged in the petition that the governor was violating his constitutional norms and frequently indulged in political activities.

Advocate Ahmad further alleged that Governor Khosa was using government funds for the southern part of the province.

The petitioner prayed to the court to take notice of the governor’s illegal acts and declare him ineligible to hold office.
