He was addressing a press conference at the CPLC office at Governor House on Friday with the chiefs of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee and the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) chiefs, Ahmed Chinoy and SP Ghulam Subhani.
Mohammad Faizan was abducted on September 17 from Gulshan-e-Iqbal when he went to buy something from a shop near his house.
According to Gorchani, the kidnappers contacted the family to demand a ransom of Rs20 million. They threatened to kill Faizan if they weren’t paid.
The family registered an FIR at Aziz Bhatti police station and requested the CPLC for assistance after the ransom call.
Gorchani said that the investigation team received information that Faizan was being held somewhere in Ghotki district. After they identified the exact location, they moved in and rescued the teenager.
He said that usually the kidnappers move their victims in cars but in Faizan’s case, they took him to Ghotki in an oil tanker.
Gorchani said that they also arrested two men, Jumman Khan and Mohammad Faiz, from the hideout but four men escaped. A Kalashnikov and a TT pistol were seized.
According to AVCC chief Subhani, the same kidnapping gang was also involved in the abducton of a forest officer who was found a week ago during a raid in Tando Adam. The men who were arrested provided clues to where Faizan was being kept, he added.
