PAF, WAPDA play out dull stalemate

KARACHI:
PAF held seven-time national champions Wapda to a goal-less draw in their Pakistan Premier Football League clash in Islamabad yesterday.

Wapda have endured a rough season, losing eight and drawing four of their 25 matches. Coach Sharafat Ali felt that losing seven of their top players to injuries had hurt his team.

“It’s been one of our worst seasons ever,” Ali told The Express Tribune. “But we’ve performed better in the second-leg after our key striker Arif Mehmood recovered from injury. Had Mehmood been fit the entire season, we would’ve ended in the
top three.”

Wapda are currently seventh in the standings with 47 points, while PAF are placed 12th with 30. KRL have ensured their league titel with 73 points from 28 matches.
