Faisal Shakeel, reporter The Express Tribune Islamabad, says emotions were running high at the Supreme Court when Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry questioned former Law Minister Babar Awan's comments during a press conference December 1, 2011.
Awan had alleged that the court had overstepped its jurisdiction by accepting a petition before the parliamentary committee concluded its investigations in the Memogate scandal.
Shakeel says it is very clear that there seems to be a rift between the judiciary and the executive branch of the government, which has been further highlighted after the court took notice of Awan's comments.

serves the CJ right, he had a case against the law minister for perjury, false degrees and bribe, yet he handed over the right to conduct enquiry to bar council. why did he not in the capacity as custodian of justice throw this dirty man in jail. why did he instead chose expediency over justice. now he should face the music.
Not only investigation but also deliver justice. This must not conclude with a general conclusion and directive. The culprit must be given what they deserve.
A democratic republic is a fine system with balance of various institutions. Parliament, executive, Judiciary are typically the main pillars (in Pakistan army is the fourth pillar). If each of these institutions work within their briefs, and don't exceed their brief, the system retains credibility and is sustainable. When one forgets this framework and works based on individual ego then they end up destroying the system.
In pakistan, it seem almost every institution is hell bent on destroying the system. Judiciary being no exception.
Memo gate is a sensitive issue and should be investigated in depth.
What we need to find out is that whose brain child memo-gate was and why such a memo was written and then forwarded which has brought bad name for the country.
