KARACHI: A lot of doctors prescribe expensive and unnecessary medicines to their patients to make a profit from the manufacturing companies. It is a violation of professional and basic ethics, said the Pakistan Medical Association’s Dr Qaiser Sajjad. He said that doctors in government and private healthcare facilities also ask patients to get laboratory tests, radiological exams and other medical tests done from certain laboratories because they get a commission from each prescription.
