Remembering 1971

Letter December 18, 2011
Unless we are careful, we may lose both Waziristan and Balochistan.

VIENNA: This is with reference to your editorial of December 16 titled “Remembering 1971”. Unless we are careful, we may lose both Waziristan and Balochistan. Those who say we have nothing in common with Bangladesh except religion and hence do not mourn its loss should understand that the same kind of narrative applies to these two regions as well. I wonder if these same people will rejoice and say good riddance if these two regions are lost also. It seems our national leaders and elite are following the script that led to the loss of East Pakistan.
