The controversy surrounding the memogate continues to unfold. The man at the centre of the controversy, Mansoor Ijaz, revealed on Monday that three senior Pakistani officials were involved in the preparation of the secret memo, a television channel reported.
Ijaz said he had informed Gen (retd) James Jones, the man who had handed the memo to Admiral (retd) Mike Mullen – about Husain Haqqani while sending it.
In his reply submitted in the Supreme Court, Ijaz claimed he had a “19 minutes and 26 seconds long” telephone conversation with Jones and that he had informed him about Haqqani in the end.
Ijaz revealed that together with the memo, he had also sent a ‘covering letter’ to Jones.
Ijaz said that he had also mentioned the involvement of personalities, including military and government officials, in the matter. Three officials jointly prepared the memo, he claimed.
Interestingly, Ijaz, in his statement to the Supreme Court, had “blackened” the names of these US officials to render them unidentifiable.

@American Muse: "American businessman Mansoor Ijaz is far more credible than retired militaryman James Jones. James Jones was fired as U.S. National Security Advisor by President Obama in November 2010 because Jones favored Arab dictators over democratic Israel in the Middle East imbroglio."
James Jones retired honorably and was not fired. DO n't just make stuff up. If he had been fired, why would Ejaz have chosen him to convey the message to Mike Mullen? Think before you speak.
General Jones woke up from deep slumber little too late to protect their "protege,"who is, now, in it up to his neck!!!

@Ali-wali: Courts have been throwing out such cases in the past and look that got us.
@Rehan: you say "No one believes you, Mr. Mansoor Ijaz." I dare ask are the corrupt politicians more reliable than Mansoor Ijaz...??? Not indulging in debate as to wheterer he is right or wrong.....one thing is for sure .....Mansoor Ijaz is no worse than other actors of this fiasco.........or should I say he is lesser evil....as he was the whistle blower...if he had not said anything...how would have anyone known about it......
It's interesting how he has not only an answer for everything but with peculiar detail. Things people would normally not give any attention. It's seeming more like he made contingency plans. You don't do that without trying to plan something and simply informing people of an incident does not equal a plan. Plans are gain/loss based. That means there's some special motive and that has most certainly been hidden. But, I'd bet anything on its existence. Not only that. If it wasn't based on his ego as well I'd run a crotch kicking gauntlet with a special rule that I have to stay smiling during every moment of it while I do it or I need to repeat the run.
i request our media to stop fooling our nation. we have lot of problems there. we have no interest in mansoor ijaz, we need food, safety, education. we want to make a corruption free society. we want pure politicians. we want our children to be doctors engineers. why are we waisting our energies in these fool things. we are damaging our society by spreading this type of news. this man has no credibility. please media educate the people dont' decive them.
Bring this guy to Pakistan, and ask police to do some good "Chit-rol" then he will tell the truth.
Where are the investigative journalists? Has anyone bothered uncovering the significance of "Isphani's people"?
@Arif: Pakistan or its SC has no power or jurisdiction over any foreigner, unless they are themselves interested in the internal affairs of Pakistan. A man of the status of Gen Jones would not have much time to give to people like Mansoor Ijaz and his stories. Only a double agent who has nothing better to do and publicity hungry would give so much and efforts. Sorry sir, but nobody in the US has this kind of idle time unless they have a vested interest. Regards, Mirza
Court should have thrown this case out at preliminary hearing, waste of time and resources.
As per the BBM transcript,MI says
quote
05/12/2011 01:47 MI: I just received an email from my link to MM independently confirming what you told me by phone. He says MM was appreciative of our intervention and utilized the data to advise and consent

The commission should request MI to provide the email he claims to have recieved from his link(James Jones) since as per James Jones n Mike Mullen they did not heed to the memo.
James Jones should also be asked if he did respond to MI with appreciation of the memo on behalf of Mike Mullen
What a pitty nation we are, having stupid media making some body so important with one paper. Same goes for courts and opposition wants to find some thing to remain in lines.
Mansoor Ijaz won’t get the desired results he anticipated to get in Pakistan’s politics.
He is one of the persons who are “More loyal than the King”.
Why Mansoor Ijaz is so much worried about Pakistan?
Why he is not talking about “Hunger in America” which is presently under discussions among the poor American citizens and debated on CNN?
Why doesn’t he give money out of his fortune made to the poor Americans to buy food?
I admire this guys courage , bravery and honesty. Some may wish so but he would not go that easily.
A decorated US general vs. a double agent. Guess who is more credible? The affidavit of Gen Jones has poured cold water on the hopes of all the rightwing haters of democracy. To the haters of USA, if the US generals wanted to lie, they would have never admitted the presence of any memo in the first place.
No one believes you, Mr. Mansoor Ijaz. Regards, Rehan
Mansoor ejaz is finally getting the publicity he long hoped for our stupid media has made this man one of the most important people in Pakistan right now.
