Punjab police to evaluate performance on a monthly basis: IG Punjab

The monthly meetings would focus on coming up with better policies and strategies for maintaining law and order.

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab Javed Iqbal said on Friday that monthly meetings will be held under his chairmanship to evaluate the performance of Punjab police officers.

The monthly meetings would focus on monitoring and reviewing police performance and coming up with better policies and strategies for maintaining law and order.

The decision was taken by IG Punjab Iqbal at a Police Headquarters (PHQ) meeting in Lahore.  Additional IG Finance and Welfare Qalab-e-Abbas, Additional IG Training Punjab Sarmad Saeed, Additional IG Investigation Aslam Tareen, Additional IG R&D Malik Khuda Bakish Awan, DIG Operations Sohail Khan attended the meeting.

The IG Punjab stressed upon the officers to complete the sectional performance report 2011 within two weeks.

During the meeting, the IG Punjab also shared his six-point vision for 2012, about reorganisation, restructuring and developing organisational frame work for the PHQ, developing a comprehensive plan for Punjab police reforms and the launch of modern and latest information technology.

Iqbal further said that keeping in view his vision for 2012, all sectional heads should finalise their strategies in this regard so that it can be promptly implemented.

While delegating all administrative powers to the Additional IG Punjab, Iqbal also said that in future all proposals, evaluation reports and official files should pass on through the Additional IG Punjab.

Moreover, he also directed the Additional IG Punjab to regularly visit regional offices and brief him about the performance of the field officers.
