Upgrade: 16 lockups to be made sub-jails

FAISALABAD: The provincial government has decided to upgrade 16 of the 56 judicial lockups in the province to the sub-jail level to accommodate increasing number of prisoners. These include lockups in Sammundri, Jaranwala, Nankana Sahib, Bhera, Pindi Camp, Issa Khail, Jampur and Narowal. Between 150 and 200 prisoners would be accommodated in each of these lockups. Those serving sentences for severe crimes would not be kept at these sub-jails. The government has already directed the Prisons Department to inspect the buildings and boundary walls.
