MULTAN:

A man arrested for the murder of his son and his two accomplices were sent on a judicial remand to Multan central jail on Monday.

Mumtaz Khan, a Basti Jaleel resident, had confessed to killing his seven-year-old son, Ali, before the police.

SHO Rana Zaheer told The Express Tribune that the suspect had earlier filed a complaint accusing his uncle Liaqat and his sons of the murder. He said police arrested Khan on suspicion and later he admitted to killing his son himself.

The SHO identified the accomplices as Sajjad, a resident of Okara, and Saleem. He said the body of the child dumped by the suspects in a canal had been recovered.

Khan told the police that he had intended to implicate a paternal uncle and his sons so that he could then grab their one acre agricultural land in the village.

The suspect said he had stabbed his son more than a month ago while bringing him back from the school where he was a student in second grade.

He said he had buried the body but later exhumed it and dumped it in a canal.
