Sloganeering and public rhetoric aside, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would be willing to partner with the United States, party leaders say.
Party Chairman Imran Khan, at a recent meeting with the US ambassador, indicated that his party would be ‘absolutely comfortable’ working with the US on all issues, including the war on terror, since both countries have strong mutual interests.
Contrary to popular perception, the US sees Imran Khan and the PTI as essential to their assessment of Pakistan’s political scenario, a prominent PTI leader said while talking to The Express Tribune.
“There is no love lost between the PTI and US,” the leader said, adding that “the US is striving hard to gain popular public support, and in the face of Imran Khan, this support could serve its purpose.”
The US ambassador also reportedly assured Imran that his country was comfortable with PTI and its ideology.
“After the 2008 elections, the PPP and PML-N, who were riding on the wave of public approval, did very little to mitigate or tone down the anti-US sentiments in the country,” the PTI leader said.
“In the face of Imran Khan, however, a clean and popular figure would emerge, whom Washington would be happy to work with,” the leader said, adding “It would also provide a sharp contrast to the decaying images of President Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.”
“We told the US that we would not do anything which could destroy the precious Pak-US relations, nor do we intend to provoke the superpower,” the source said.
During the meeting both, the US ambassador and Imran, agreed that a strong Pakistan would benefit all concerned, including the United States,” the source added.
The PTI leadership had initially denied the Imran-Munter meeting, until the US ambassador admitted on a talk show that he had met Imran more than once, but never in the presence of DG ISI General Shuja Pasha.
Party’s central Information Secretary Omar Cheema said that during the meeting, Imran put forward the party’s position on Pak-US relations.
“Imran Khan told the US ambassador that Pakistan wanted a relationship based on honour and dignity and Pakistan’s sovereignty should not be violated,” said Cheema.
Swelling party ranks
The party leader, who wished to remain anonymous, said that former federal minister Jehangir Tareen would soon join the party, along with 12 provincial ministers.
“The joining of Tarin and his group would tilt the balance in PTI’s favour, in southern Punjab,” the leader said.
“At the moment it’s like a gold rush. Former PPP leaders, including Nisar Akbar from Faisalabad, Ghulam Sarwar Cheema from Wazirabad and Zafar Waraich from Rahim Yar Khan, have also joined the party,” the source added.
On Shah Mahmood joining the party, the source said that the former foreign minister didn’t have much choice.
Links with the establishment
The PTI leader said his party was “not one bit bothered” by talk of the establishment’s tacit support.
“There may be people around in the party who might have links with the security agencies but let me tell you, Imran Khan understands that more than the PTI needing the establishment, the establishment needs us,” the source said.
He said there was strong resentment in the party on the inclusion of certain politicians, and the young cadre was adamant to clean up, but Khan has tried to allay their fears and asked them to trust him.

You can not bring change in the same democratic/capitalist system. Please stop betraying/deceiving people. I believe using the word change in itself is deceptive, as major things will remain the same i.e. Judicial system, economic system, foreign policy etc
if pti and jammat islami make election alliance they will surely win 80% seats shahid nasir
i am very very dissappointed by the comments given there... why dont we do some research on such news yar..... it was purely fabricated news... Imran Khan has never gone to Washington...he was in London and has never met any American personnel......it is a wrong news... you can search it...
US has 6 millions Jews living in their country. Pakistan and Pakistanis must understand that they were behind Iraq and Afghan wars. These Jews are not loyal to America but only to Israel. Israel will not accept Pakistan,a Muslim country possessing atom bomb. The end game is to make Pakistani bomb totally ineffective, useless. After that America will leave. Why do we assume that American (Jews) are our friends when we know they have only one purpose. Why are we so naive. Why do we have to play with fire. We should send every single foreigner and close all western embassies. After some security upgrades allow them back but without the reconnaissance equipment. Can someone tell me what the 24 Israeli soldiers were doing in the Shamsi Airbase. Does Pakistan not care about her own nuclear asset. We are letting America and the Jews coming so close to our nuclear weapons why not let India too, since we don't care. Will we wake up when it is too late.
Imran Khan's timing always bad.. When it came to stand against USA he is bowing to them. Nawaz Sharif cancelled his meeting with Munter as a response to NATO attack on Salaala Check post but IK going to Washington to finalize the terms of engagement... It seems IK ready to polish USA shows now.
Another U-turn of Imran Khan.. Imran Khan exposing himself.. his opponents need to do nothing against him.. shame on the puppets of USA..
we should have friend ship with us...... but should not be their slaves................
meeting with us officials is not at all bad...... you have to meet foreign dignatories........... imran is a honest man and will always stand by pakistans interests.............
Dear All,
There is no need to panic or become emotional. IK is doing all this for the sake of our country. What's the harm in building relations with the US on equal and honourable footings? The present parlous state of our country demands an astute and wise diplomatic move on the part of our political parties. So far all the majors political houses have been failed miserably in dealing with the Americans. The White House knows their true worth very well as they are dealing with these parties for the last six decades. Even though the Americans are more interested in furthering their own 'power agenda' in this region, they have become fed up of our rulers incessant cupidity for power and dollars. . Furthermore, other major political powers in the region especially China wants a decent, fair and honest political leader to deal with. IK recent visit to China is an ample proof of this fact that China is no longer interested in keeping ties with its 'all-weather friend' whose leadership is in the hands of the most corrupt political mafia of the land. To keep this relationship intact, rebuilding relations with the US on equal footings,to make Pakistan a prosperous and independent country and disentangle it from the tentacles of terrorism, we should support IK because he has a clear vision and purpose to serve Pakistan. Our allies want some decent attitude on our part and IK is the only option left to show some sobriety and decent character.
It is not a very good news. Why IK has to meet with US Ambassador? Why doesn't he meets Russian or Chinese Ambassador? Why he has to explain to US his party platform.
Our leader should trust people of Pakistan and not a diplomat. IK will be elected by the votes that will be cast by the people of Pakistan US Ambassador can not vote in Pakistan's election.
WK
Imran, Salutations. Meeting American Officers in secret was not a good move. As a leader of a party in opposition, Imran you had all the right to meet with the Ambassador of a Nation closely involved with the affairs of Pakistan. You did not have to do it in secret. . As long as America recognizes the aspirations of the Paki people, and as long as America understands that Paki co-operation will always be subject to Paki National Interests, the two nations can, and should, work together. But till now America has NOT SERVED Paki National interests, but has worked in cahoots with SELF-INTERSET groups or CRIMINAL gangs. An example of the self-interest group is the Mafia Gang called Pakistan Army, MGcPA, and an example of the Criminal Gang is the PPP, Piratical Plunderers of Pakistan. . As one of the greatest Engineering Nations, America should be requested to fund the building of the Railway from Quetta to Qandahar, and from Landi Kotal to Kabul. . America should be requested to contribute, generously, to a 50 year Education Project in the United Islamic Republics (presently known as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan). The Project should start with primary education for every child, and progress to secondary education. .
Imran, if ever you are elected, please make sure at least 5% of the national income is spent on compulsory education.
as long as Imran keeps my national interest above all negotiations i dot have an issue.
From the recent news we understand that Mr. Imran Khan and his party mates are meeting US officials, which is not a bad omen. In the present scenario meeting US officials is essential but there should be no back door promises. We do not expect such things from Imran Khan and his party. We expect Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah like expression who single handedly dealt with British regime at that time. We expect Jinnah's like sincerity in financial matters. We expect good and effective governance like Jinnah from Imran Khan.
This news is no way different from PTI's original stance but the way its been presented is questionable."Mere Propaganda at its peak"!!!
Sharan Mager tm ko nahe ati..pti member should watch this..59year young imran khan real face..really no one can justify this. Pmlq leader with pti and now USA..at the end musharaf will join this inqalabi..hy Pakistan..may Allah show us right path
"Backdoor Diplomacy"... Me thinks there is an inappropriate joke there someway
Trust Imran khan, this is the only thing left ...... Do it or bear what is going on with the country !!
If leading a nation is a cricket game then "Pakistan ka Allah Hafiz..."@MAD:
Double entendre in headline and story? Story about Khan Sahab with phrases like "willing to partner with" and would be "absolutely comfortable" may perk many ears.
what is the difference between PTI and other political parties when Imran is filling his basket with all rotten eggs.
i think its very tactical and godd IK visiting china first and now US, good relations with all nations are required, although differences with their foreign policy can be openly critisized, IK is the only politician with a well known reputation and widespread respect elsewhere in the world, he can be the best ambassador to promote Pak's case, unlike the shareefs who have their personal empires to look after and zardaris who stay hiding in their chateaus..........mine n my entire family's vote definitely for u IK
@Umais Ahmed: He keeps on coming India every now and then, even giving interviews to Indian media(specially NDTV-Barkha Dutt-I donno why)
@anonymous, this so called 'source' is bogus. another effort to 'subtly' malign sir imran khans name.
Imran Khan is taking U-turns on about every issue. He was going to get rid of corrupt leaders, now all the lota's are joining him. not long ago MQM was a terrorrist organization and he was filing a case against the terrorist altaf hussain ,now he has become altaf bhai. He did not stop taking advantage of anti-american sentiments and now he is happy to work with them. I was a die hard fan of his honesty but I am not so sure now!
What the hell? What about China? I mean don't you trust Chinese leadership? You were totally against USA but now you respect USA? Man I'm sorry but you have just lost my vote.
This article says it all

T20 Match played by PTI members http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vao3uXVMzGA
All the best with you GOALs. :)
@Ejaz: Super power or not, your comment was completely illogical. Iran issues existed before even the economic drama. Iran is being dealt with the same as they always have. Don't act like you know how to be a super power of any sort. Your strategy begins and ends with crossing your fingers and mentioning your nukes. That hasn't gotten you anywhere but backwards and you haven't even realized that yet.
Good very good always hope for the best. May be this time we found change across the country.
IK and PTI never said that they are anti-US. It's great to see that he is not a mad politician who is just fuming massess emotions to go to war with US. That's not what PTI ideology is. Pakistan should be able to work with US because keeping once pride does not mean to start a fight at each issue like a crazy wife.
Pak can work with US while defending her interests. I am happy that IK is showing maturity and not creating war hysteria. We have had enough of that already.
PTI is playing the same game as everyone else, now it has the same faces as everyone else. Pretty soon PTI will be just like everyone else.
@Faisal: The Royal Military Academcy at Sandhurst is in England -- not the US.
Many of our army people go off on paid trips to visit/study at US army establishments. That may have been stopped for the moment (or so the government says) but not for long. Slowly and quietly these jaunts and free-bee's will be restored with even greater gusto.
And most of the senior civilians and army people -- the one's who talk the loudest against the US -- have their children studying in the US, hopefully working there and seeking that ultimate prize -- a Green Card and then US Citizenship.
@Ch Allah Daad: Chaudry sahib there is another A also that has given its unstinted support to Imran Khan. Please count them too. They are the AWAAM of Pakistan.
very soon we will see that jamat e islami and other mulla parties will also join imran khan on this sirat e mustaqim..imran khan will of course remain their immam
America is disappointed with this government, therefore another stooge is in making. Imran's popularity has sunk to new lows. He cannot face people now.
Another Hullabaloo to crumble him....but Imran khan still holds support around him...Irrespective of what has been extracted out of his noble move, looking at the brighter side will bring prosperity in Pakistan! Lets not jump the gun by assuming, peace out :)
Thats what you call GROUND REALITY :)
I never saw Imran Khan labeling US as enemy. He only opposes its policies in the region and in Pakistan in particular. If this is sorted out, there is nothing wrong in having good relations between with any other country. Just like Indo-Pak relations. Only Kashmir is the bone of contention. Once it is solved, there could be excellent brotherly relations between the two.
Isnt it a u turn ?
pleasee!the 'source' is totally bogus! thanks ET for again publishing a 'subtle' article in which pti is portrayed as a wolf in sheeps clothing. nice try but we know better. imran khan all the way!!
Nothing is wrong in love and war , but tell me one tning that it is a love or war .?
Both at a time is also possible ?
Yes, that is what going on in Pakistan .
Pakistan is having both love and war with U S simultaniously ........?
PTI never said they won't work with US. ET is trying to make it look like Imran Khan is anti American in front of public and pro American behind the scenes which is not true.
As for this: "“the US is striving hard to gain popular public support"
Completely disagree with Omar Cheema, actions speak louder than words and so far US has tried their utmost to make people hate them.
"the US sees Imran Khan and the PTI as essential to their assessment of Pakistan’s political scenario"
Again I disagree, US looks only for its own interests which is why it supports corrupt people and dictators all over the world, they would never support a person like Imran Khan.
Great move by IK and PTI. Apart from other countries knowing PTI's agenda, such visits will give PTI leadership an opportunity to get some experience before the real deal. This should be a good warm-up before the start of the match.
I have supported most ofthe positive comments above. I believe that keeping the interest of the country foremost, and in dignified manner, we should try to keep good relations with all the countries of the world excluding israel, and including USA. May God grant strength and wisdom in IK to take out the country out of this mess. IK , if your intentions are clean Good will help you in your efforts
Imran Khan is doing good in accepting US as a friend. This is good politics. You always not to make enemies. This is diplomacy. We need foreign investment, trade and global cooperation. We just don't need any foreign dictation. End of discussion.
did they have a choice???
rofl @ C-H-A-N-G-E
@Mueed Butt: What exposed? Bro, its all about how you deal and present yourself in front of others... IK has the potential to rise us from this mess through all his skills and intellect. Do you recommend that IK should announce that he would break all ties with USA/ NATO countries because they attacked us, from India because of Kashmir issue, from Afghanistan because Hamid Karzai talks against us, etc etc?
I see some of our people responding quite emotionally and blasting Imran Khan on this. Words chosen for the headline also have a role to play in that. I want to tell the estranged ones that talking to the US does not necessarily mean that a deal is being struck. Engaging the US is very important so that we can put our message across. People in Pakistan do not like the US policies. While we should not be bothered about what US does elsewhere, we want to ensure any future relationship between Pakistan and US would be based on dignity and respect. We want to tell them we will not allow our soil to be used for attacks against any country whether to the US or to the militant groups. Leadership and diplomacy is about creating acceptability of one's national foreign policy and not about declaring war against the whole world. As a rapidly deteriorating and poor country, we cannot afford war. We want an end to loans and debts but at the same time, do not want to exacerbate our problems further by being slapped with more economic sanctions. At least we should be able to trade and export our products. Inshallah this is the right path and we all should support those who are trying to make things better for the country. Peace!
@All BSS: US presence in Afghanistan shouldn't be your cup of tea. We Afghans know better how to get rid of Americans. Tarzan kills the dragon, the prince takes the credit. This should not be the case.
Well. This is Interesting. What US is doing in Pakistan. US is conducting Drone Operations, Carrying out black-water operations, breaching the sovereignty of Pakistan and PTI is against US policies as voiced by their chairman in recent past. How two parties with opposite viewpoint can work togather comfortably. For example US wants an operation against Taliban in Wazirastan region while PTI is in favor of talks. These two view points are at 180 degree.
Working togather comfortably means that both are on same page. It is less likely they (americans) are on PTI page and vice versa is quite possible. If this is the case then there is no change. PTI also wishes to garner US support for becoming in Power. All other parties doing. Where is the socalled change?
@EmbarassedPak: go watch your sports because maybe you dont give a damn about what happens to this country. If you were one of the people living below poverty line (waiting for somebody to help them) you wouldnt have been saying this i guarantee it!
@Captain Akhtar Zaman (R): Have you conducted a survey due to which you claim that he would not win more than a few seats? If you dont like him doesnt mean others dont as well. Dont generalize your opinion. The nation is with Imran Khan and Wikileaks have proved that he does not betray Pakistan's interest in meetings with the americans. People like you can never ever be satisfied with anyone. Leave others out of your stupid generalizations. Imran Khan WILL form the next government whether you like it or not (thats my hope)
@Faisal: Sandhurst is in the UK not in the US.
@ihtisham: Are you sure the US is super power. This world is not a Unipolar world anymore and the decade of an insane war of the US has ruined the US economy and the US is not a Super Power anymore Sir. If it was a super power; they would have done something when the Great Iranian downed their so called technologically excelled Drone.
@ Hu Jintao Give him a chance he will make it up wiyh interest
`
Mr. Khan ultimately you have accepted the realities of pakistani-politics. Good luck on joining the band wagon.
I wonder if this news is true!
I do agree with Imran Khan this new position and wish him best of luck. I also advise him to stop anti-americanism in his Jalsas and slogans.
@R S JOHAR: I disagree with your point that we cannot go ahead without USA and IM support. Their support is the actual evil and we should try to build a plan where all overseas pakistani should be given tax holidays for 5 years in some industries and agriculture and infrastructure development. Likewise there is much more that can be done without any foriegner support.
I doubt any of the posters will vote in any case.
Can't believe it...! He is no more a Revolutionary Leader. Nevertheless, let He takes his turn...!
It’s common sense that you have to work with the largest economic, diplomatic and military power of the time. And Imran can’t make US leave Afghanistan, nor can he pull the army out of FATA without US approval. Disappointed PTI fans should study how capitalist economy works, and what does it mean diplomatically for a country which is termed the global hub of terrorism
@Captain Akhtar Zaman (R): In a recent interview, Imran Khan clearly mentioned that he would not make any alliance with Musharraf. you comment is baseless.. and secondly, how does Imran khan is not the voice for Pakistanis and you represent the 90% of Pakistan? that's just absurd on so many levels.
@Atif Ejaz: What is so bad about this news Atif?
What is so astonishing about this news that there are few eyebrows raised? A country has to deal with other countries and cannot work in silos. The most important point is that Khan should keep National Interest as the top most priority, unlike other politicians who want to keep the US happy and put their Nation's future, integrity and lives of own citizens at stake.
We have faith in Imran that no matter what happens he has no fear, would give National interest the top most priority and is an honest person.
O my god... another shift... welcome to imrani inqalab.
Backdoor diplomacy is anyways there but watch who negotiate in favor of Pakistan. And only Imran Khan emerged as positive diplomat of his country.
I had commented on ET more than two months back that IK would take a U turn on his US stand as Pakistan cannot survive without US aid both for military infrastructure and civil projects. Pakistanis must understand that their country's economy is on the brink and only US and IMF aid could take it out of the woods since the all weather friend has declined to give any aid in terms of cash which is urgently required by Pakistan. Hence this statement is a positive step in the right direction which should not be condemned.
@Udaya Bose: We have had very many politicians in Pakistan, not even a single leader since Jinnah. Remember people, even Muslims, used to accuse Jinnah of being a Brit Spy, we read that they were skeptical of his direct dealings with British instead of completely boycotting them just as sentimental people want(ed). In Imran Khan's form, we are seeing a leader for the first time, so we see the similar accusations, similar skepticism but those who have faith in him, have faith in him. We are not dissuaded by such news, such comments and such referrals of past.
anyone in this country to get power without US support?
No hidden agenda please!!!! IK be very transparent regarding relationship with USA !!!
Good, Inquilabi Leader is exposed. Anything more PTI lovers?
One must understand the complicated situation of Pakistan politics and no man can run the country without support and wise moves with no compromise on national security and public interest. Imran Khan so far has been a good face for Pakistan giving a softer and matured image of Pakistan to the world. Hating USA is something that all of do however we tend to forget that hate is not the answer for way ahead. we need to improve relations with all the countries and on equality grounds and attain a civilised and responsible nuclear state level.
yet another propaganda against IK and PTI.............Long live Imaran Khan..........Youth is with you
Surprising. It's extremely common to see an anti-American comment followed up by some "Imran Khan will save us from the monsters" in comments. In just the past couple days you could probably find tons of them. It seems abrupt but, considering the things that would occur for this article to be able to exist, it can't be abrupt at all.
there you go. IK is all about rhetoric ... so predictable!
i no more trust khan, this was not the reason we were supporting khan, our bad
the best part about this article is that there are no direct quotes from any PTI leader..it is all from the 'insider' and 'sources'. no name mentioned.:)
@The Reader: "Friends but not slaves!" Fifty years ago Ayub Khan said "Friends not Masters" Pakistan is still stuck in the same groove of a worn out record.
If The Americans work with Us on an equal basis, there is no harm ! - but, WE should learn to say 'NO' , to anything that effects our PEOPLE ! We do TRUST Imran Khan and feel that HE will not let us DOWN !
This Citibank group which is being included in the PTI has already destroyed the country economy. What PTI is looking in these chaps of elite class? How they can bring revolution is now my question as well?
He is one guy who doesn't have property worth of millions of pounds in western countries.
Khan would need to have cozy relationship with the US administration, after all it is a super power. However, such relationship should not be at the expense of our internal stability and foreign policy.
CORRECTION ! "The PTI leadership had initially denied the Imran-Munter meeting, until the US ambassador admitted on a talk show that he had met Imran more than once, but never in the presence of DG ISI General Shuja Pasha."
PTI leadership never denied any meeting, IK openly accepted that he met Munter and where he met him and what they talked about.
@Captain Akhtar Zaman (R): Your hating the US is justified to some extent but you have to deal with all countries friends or enemies so if IK deals with the US on his terms that is a +ive the important point is the terms must be favorable to Pakistan
=
Dear Imran,
Are you comfortable working with US, means u r ok woth their drone attacks on our public. Kick IMF out of the country if you are a real sincere leader. And then depend on our own human talent and natural resources, only Baluchistan gold is even enough to steer Pak out of the economic mess that we are in. Jail the corrupts.
You used to say k corrupts ko latka dunga. And now they are joining PTI.
Captain Zaman Sb, why dont we boycott attending courses at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, if we hate US so much!!
@Captain Akhtar Zaman (R): Imran khan is not against US, he is only against US policies regarding war on terror.
Captain Zaman, this is diplomacy not selling oneself out. This is an excellent move my Mr. Khan. The Americans need to know which kind of a govt they will be dealing with so that they are mentally prepared to the policies on the conditions on Pakistanis rather than their own. We should endorse these trips to more often and not limited to China and the US but to other countries like the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and IF possible India.
a recent interview to Al-Jazeera explains all. Vote for Imran Khan. Waiting for a change.
I knew it already , none revolution came under the same monopolistic and capitalistic thats what the history tell and Imran Khan is going to give another proof
@Captain Akhtar Zaman (R):
Wake up Mr Zaman, we need Kaptaan to make US pull out of afghanistan.
We hate no one as long as they don't mess with us. We want to be friends with other countries on equal levels. Go PTI...
US is a super power & pakistan cannot cut its relations with US. US is the no.1 investor & donor in pakistan. Pakistan should have good relations with US as Imran said: “Imran Khan told the US ambassador that Pakistan wanted a relationship based on honour and dignity and Pakistan’s sovereignty should not be violated,”.
PTI is no longer Imran Khan
Imran Khan will have to stop all support for the US war otherwise he will not be elected
The choice is his
He has made it clear. This pro US paper should refrain from casting others as pro US
“Imran Khan told the US ambassador that Pakistan wanted a relationship based on honour and dignity and Pakistan’s sovereignty should not be violated,”
Thats what Pakistan nation also want....
Can there ever be a govt. without support from US? I think we should keep democracy aside and start talking about US-defined-democracy.
No friend, No Slave. Just give and take.
All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.
Adolf Hitler.
That's all we are looking for from our leadership...to state our case like IK is trying to do rather than swinging between unquestionable love and war mania..."“Imran Khan told the US ambassador that Pakistan wanted a relationship based on honour and dignity and Pakistan’s sovereignty should not be violated,”
Kaptaan never fix a match, that's what I know :)
lol... tell me something that I don't know ...!!!
trusted by US ,trusted By military, Way to go PTI. Wonder what logic PTI fans will present now as PTI rides on Anti-American Campaign.
Imran Khan never tolerated match fixing as Captain and is known to despise it. I truest you wont fix this match sir. Let the legacy continue.
We trust Khan or tell us another politician to trust.
Shame...Its shame for Imran Khan, who is feeling comfortable in working with US. He had always been a loud voice against US and now ? Imran Khan is currently on a vist to US and meeting state department officials to make a deal like Musharaf...It was not expected from you to side with US. Rest assure your party will not get more than few seats...what to talk of forming government...You are not the voice of the Pakistani...We 90 % of Pakistani hate US from the core of our hearts...wake and shake up..Imran Khan..
Out of three A's, Army and America have given their decision, let's see when Allah decides..
A politicians best weapon is his/her diplomacy, but it needs to be in the best interest of country and not just to hold on to power. I get good vibes from Imran.
Interesting....PTI supporters need to look at this....
Unfortunate but no leader in Pakistan can be successful on his own. Not because they can't, because they think they can not.
PTI in addition to consolidating its position amongst the potential voters & increasing liaison with various domestic political dynamics is on the route to strengthen its relations with various countries with whom they might have to deal with when in power. Mr. Khan's recent visit to China, his reported meetings with the US ambassador, PTI's delegation to US are a part of this effort.
PTI is emerging from its political adolescence to well-groomed puberty. Good Luck PTI, well done Mr. Khan.
Friends but not slaves!
