Local industrialists and workers jointly staged demonstrations and strong protests in Faisalabad against the massive gas outages, which virtually crippled the city for more than four hours.
More than two dozen protest processions were taken out from various parts of the city. The protestors burnt tyres and blocked the university road for many hours. The participants also announced to launch a civil disobedience, including lock-out of their units and non-payments of gas and other bills.
Addressing a sit-in, in front of the city district government office, office bearers of 16 prominent textile-related organisations expressed deep concern over the lukewarm attitude of the government and said that the government had failed to honour its commitment to supply gas to the industrial sector of Punjab for five-days a week.
