Assistance: Industrialists to supply fly ash for dam construction

LAHORE:

Industrialists have assured developers of a hydropower project that they will supply fly ash – a residue of coal and used in construction of dams – and provide other assistance in completing this project of national importance.

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher gave the assurance to a five-member team of consultants of Dasu hydropower project who visited LCCI on Saturday. The consultants, including the project manager, gave a briefing to LCCI office-bearers on the low-cost energy project that will produce 4,320 megawatts of electricity and generate about Rs191.7 billion of revenues annually. They discussed a number of technical issues with chamber officials.

Meher offered the chamber’s assistance in an effort to help start work on the mega project at the earliest. He asked the consultants to hold regular meetings at the chamber, which had 18,000 members representing all sorts of businesses and they could be of great help.
