Cng Closure: Hearing adjourned till Dec 12

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of a writ petition challenging the three-day weekly closure of CNG supply to gas stations.

The Association of CNG Filling Stations has filed the petition. The association’s counsel sought the court’s permission to add more government functionaries as party in the petition.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah allowed the plea and asked the counsel to file the amended petition by December 12.

The petitioners say that the government does not have the authority to order the closure.

“The public and the families of those in the CNG business are facing difficulties as well as financial loss,” says the petition.

It prays the court to set aside the three-day weekly closure and declare it unconstitutional and a violation of citizens’ fundamental rights.
