Razzaq aims for Big Bash success

KARACHI: All-rounder Abdul Razzaq is targeting a successful return to action as he gears up to take part in the upcoming Big Bash League to prove his mettle for the national team.

Razzaq, who was dropped from the squad midway during the One-Day International series against Sri Lanka due to injury, was advised rest for two weeks and was omitted from the Bangladesh-bound squad.

However, Razzaq, who leaves for Australia on Monday, admitted he was yet to reach full fitness but hoped that he would be able to take part in the Big Bash where he will represent the Melbourne Renegades.

“I’ve been advised rest for 10 more days,” Razzaq told The Express Tribune. “Hopefully I’ll be completely in shape before the tournament. There’s a practice match on December 15 and that will determine my fitness. I’m confident that I’ll be able to put on a good show.”

The all-rounder also termed the league crucial as he eyes a comeback for the England series, which starts next month.

“The event will be tough as some top players will be present. Playing in Australia, England and South Africa is always important because one can learn a lot in the presence of seasoned players.”
