Petitioner fined: SHC dismisses petition against CPNE

KARACHI: A division bench of the Sindh High Court comprising Chief Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar dismissed a writ petition filed by the publisher and editor of the daily Qaumi Akbhar Ilyas Shakir against the office-bearers of Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (Registered) (CPNE) including its Secretary-General Aamir Mehmood, Ghulam Nabi Chandio and Hamid Hussain Abidi. The bench has also fined Shakir for concealing facts from the court. The attorneys for the CPNE Akhtar Hussain and Masood Ghani Advocates told the bench that the petitioner had kept facts hidden from the court.
