Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan ordered the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader to file a report by December 20, the next date of hearing.
Petitioner Advocate Afaq Ahmad submitted that Awan had been frequently witnessed criticising the Supreme Court during recent press conferences. “Everybody knew that Awan had distributed sweets when former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was executed,” alleged the petitioner, adding that he later joined the PPP and took a U-turn by terming the conviction a judicial murder. Ahmad also said that Awan continued issuing remarks on sub-judice matters. The petitioner contended that Awan not only criticised the Supreme Court proceedings over the memogate, but also tried to establish a “secret relation” of the court with a political party.
