Australia has scored six goals in the pool A match in Auckland.
Pakistan, making their first Champions Trophy appearance since 2007, has not been able to win any match of the tournament.
On Monday, Pakistan lost to Spain with a 4-2 while Australia won against Great Britain with a 4-1.
While the result means Pakistan cannot make the top four teams in the eight-nation event, manager Khawaja Junaid said his side had played well and a rebuilding programme ahead of the London Games remained on track.
“We’re trying to improve. We made some mistakes but played good hockey… we’re growing steadily. We’ve seen some good skills and good movement.”
The Pakistani hockey team underwent a series of training tours throughout the year targeting the tournament which is the team’s last international assignment before the London Olympics. The build-up for this tournament also saw the ouster of veteran players and former captains Rehan Butt and Zeeshan Ashraf, paving way for promising youngsters to show their mettle.

We cant play next year too. We lost to Belgians in Champions Challenge. We choked. But i am happy with the improvement of our hockey team since the appointment of a new coach. In'sha'Allah, we'll qualify for the Olympics. Be ready for the sweet revenge :)
@Salman Zahidi....... no one even wants to talk about it in Pakistan. Look at the size of the media coverage. A small little corner for the most prestigious field hockey event. Pathetic!
@IndianMuslim: lol... dont feel left out... it was a wild card entry...
*shouldn't have
Atleast Pakistan are playing in Champions trophy. We are one step behind you guys. Australia are the world chanpions and defending champions in this tournament. Its not easy to beat them. Anyway You should have lost to the *te GB hockey team..
Pakistan's hockey is finished ..no one wants to play that sport .
This tells you that the basic skillset is lacking. Conceding 12 goals in 3 matches; averaging 4 goals per match. That is ridiculous. These players should be given courses on position and game sciences. And obviously, fitness; conceding 8 out of 12 goals in the second half.
Things are only going downhill.
Youngsters are not ready for the big event. Bring back Rehan Butt, remember Zidan in football world cup whose experience was a big difference for his team.
