Militancy in the north: One killed in Kohat rocket attack

PESHAWAR:

One person was killed and six injured when a rocket was fired into the Paracha Market area of Kohat district, officials said on Monday.

Another rocket was reportedly fired into the cantt area; however, no casualties were caused.

The rockets were reportedly fired from the frontier region of Darra Adamkhel. The person killed has been identified as policeman Sabz Ali, while those injured have been identified as police constable Sattar Khan, Rashim Gul and Qammar Gul, who is in critical condition.

“It appears to be a reaction of the ongoing military operation in Kurram and Orakzai agencies,” said Kohat Commissioner Sahibzada Anees, while speaking to The Express Tribune.

Police said two policemen and four civilians were injured in the attack. An official of the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) told The Express Tribune that the 7mm rockets landed near a police post.

Earlier in the day, seven militants were killed when fighter jets targeted militant hideouts in Kurram Agency.
