Football: City to host United in FA Cup

City defeated United 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley last season

LONDON: Holders Manchester City were handed an explosive derby clash with rivals Manchester United in the draw for the FA Cup third round. City defeated United 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley en route to winning the competition last season and they will host Sir Alex Ferguson’s side at Eastlands over the weekend of January 7. Roberto Mancini’s side, who beat Stoke in the final to claim their first trophy in 35 years, are currently five points clear of United in the Premier League. “Great game to kick off this year’s FA cup, I can’t wait,” said United defender Rio Ferdinand.  Meanwhile, Chelsea will take on Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge and Arsenal will host Championship side Leeds.
