Ashura: ‘CCTV, special security in place’
Security teams equipped with sophisticated weapons have started round-the-clock patrolling in wireless fitted vehicles

CCTV cameras have been installed along the route of the main Zuljinnah procession and majlis sites in the city. Capital City Police Officer, Ahmad Raza Tahir told APP on Friday that a heavy police contingent would be on duty during Ashura.
“Security teams equipped with sophisticated weapons have started round-the-clock patrolling in wireless fitted vehicles in the sensitive areas,” he said. The CCPO said that all divisional additional SSPs, SDPOs and SHOs have been directed to check vehicles with unauthorised revolving blue lights, tainted glass and green number plates. Tahir said additional force would be deployed in areas that fall in ‘A’ and ‘B’ category. Pakistan Rangers and reserve police will assist local police during Ashura. “Leaves of all police officers have been cancelled,” he said.
