Ties between Pakistan and India

RAWALPINDI: This is with reference to Marvi Memon’s article ‘Where is our sovereignty?’ (July 22). Our politicians are adept in criticising others. India and Pakistan should have good relations but that is easier said than done. The mistrust and suspicion between the two neighbours runs deep because of their history. First of all we should stop the blame-game and political point-scoring and decide that we do want to resolve our differences. There should be a genuine desire for peace and stability.

Both nations are responsible for the hatred and violence and they need to realise that. Furthermore, the establishments on both sides have no interest in peace because they are the beneficiaries of the current situation.

It is ordinary Indians and ordinary Pakistanis who need to raise their voice and make their governments hear their need for peace and normalisation of relations.
