In a development that will enhance cooperation across the Line of Control (LoC), an agreement has been signed to form the first-ever Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry with equal members from both sides.
The agreement was reached after a three-day meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey from November 26 to 28.
Ten major business organisations including the heads of four major chambers and federations of industries participated in the meeting.
New Delhi and Islamabad had allowed Cross-LoC contact in 2005 by launching a bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad and then expanded it by trade in October 2008. Furthermore, tourism and cultural exchanges were agreed upon in July 2011.
The Jammu & Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce & Industry spokesperson Irshad Mehmood told The Express Tribune that the Istanbul meeting was facilitated by London-based organisation Conciliation Resources with assistance from its regional partners Centre for Peace, Development and Reforms (AJK) and Indus Research Foundation (Jammu).
The meeting decided that the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry shall comprise 44 members equally drawn from both sides of Line of Control.

Brilliant. Move ahead from this.
Good move make the borders irrelavant
Such POSITIVE moves are the path to unification NOT hostility and intrigue.
As they say "It is easier to negotiate with friends than enemies."
Also time heals.
Witness Northern Ireland, re-unification of Germany etc.
