Cop Outs: 6 police officers booked for corruption

On charges of taking illegal gratification.

FAISALABAD: Six police officials were booked and a constable was arrested on the charge of taking illegal gratification on Wednesday. According to police, constable Saif Ullah, along with five jawans of the patrolling police, arrested two men – Imtiaz alias Kali and Altaf – wanted in robbery cases. The policemen released both suspects by taking illegal gratification of Rs25,000 from them, officials said. A complaint was filed with the Resident Police Officer against those involved following which Factory Area district superintendent police conducted an inquiry. The inquiry held that the accused were guilty of taking bribes. Constable Saif Ullah has been arrested. Cases have been registered against the remaining policemen.
