Hang Ups: Man kills wife for not ending call
“I told her repeatedly not to talk on her cell phone," says husband suspecting his wife of having an affair.
SARGODHA:
A woman was killed by her husband because she would not stop talking on the phone.
According to police officials, Tariqabad resident Irfan had confessed to killing his wife Maira. He told the police that he had shot her because she wouldn’t stop talking on her cell phone. “I told her repeatedly not to talk on her cell phone. And she wouldn’t tell me who she was talking to. I kept telling her to stop but she didn’t,” he said.
Police officials said that Irfan suspected his wife of having an affair with someone in the village and suspected that she was taking to her paramour.
On Wednesday afternoon, Irfan shot Maira in the chest after she refused to hang up her phone. Police sent the body for an autopsy and doctors said that Maira died instantly after receiving eight bullet wounds.
“He killed her in the name of ‘honour’. We have arrested Irfan,” police inspector Tariq Shah said. Faisalabad resident Maira had married Irfan against their parent’s wishes four years ago. They had two children.
