Police initiated the search operation on a tip-off from residents.
The recovered weapons included hand grenades, locally manufactured bombs, Kalashnikovs, pistols and hundreds of explosive materials.
According to the police, the weapons were concealed in plastic bags which were buried in the ‘graves’, which were dug to hoard the arms.
Police also arrested five miscreants who belonged to a banned militant faction.
The militants are said to have planned a terrorist activity during Muharram processions in the city.

@Acorn Guts: Yea, I don't get why banned militant factions don't get named in many of these reports either. Like some kind of unspoken taboo....here's hoping someone from ET might update it.
How long has it been since a terrorist was hanged in this country?
'Banned militant faction' what is that? If they were truly 'miscreants' and if they had really 'planned' the vile activities during Muharram then whose identity are we protecting here? Why not say which group they belonged to?
