The DCC statement has been circulated to members of the Security Council by its president and is being issued as an official document of the 15-member council.
Pakistan's UN Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon, who had arrived in New York on Sunday night after having consultations with the government, addressed a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. He apprised the Secretary General of the situation, saying that in the early hours of Saturday, the Nato/Isaf aircraft attack on Pakistan's border posts resulted in the death of 24 officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army and injured another 13 personnel.
The DCC, in its emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday evening, had condemned the attack in the strongest terms and declared it unacceptable. It reiterated the resolve of the Pakistani people and Armed Forces to safeguard the country's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity at all costs.
In accordance with the resolution of the Joint Session of the Parliament of May 14, the DCC announced the closure with immediate effect of the Nato/Isaf logistics supply lines and decided to ask the United States to vacate the Shamsi Airbase within 15 days.
The DCC statement had also said that the government will revisit and undertake a complete review of all programmes, activities and cooperative arrangements with US/Nato/Isaf, including diplomatic, political, military and intelligence.

sounds really and truly ridiculous to complain to the securite council about the failure of a bipartite agreement between Pak and the usa - what has this got to do with the UNSC ?? - after all Pak INVITED US forces onto your soil and the bilateral relationship turned sour so to complain to UNSC is yet another sign or the lack of preofessional leadership in Pak - would have made better sense to quietly discuss with china and then allow the relationship or agreement with usa to time-lapse and then forge ties with china instead ?? - - i sure hope Imran can do better !!
Pakistanis are doing the right thing to bring the border post killing incident to the UN, and shutting the BBC off for anti-Pakistan. Hat off to you all.!
I love Pakistan and everything Pakistani!!! If I could, I would reincarnate myself as a proud Pakistani!!! I love you all!!!
@H.A. Khan: the U.N. hasn't condemned this because under the post-9/11 U.N. Security Council Resolutions (especially 1373) Pakistan has the binding sovereign obligation to root out terrorists, terror havens, and terror-training camps from its territory.
No activity to root out terrorists from "Pakistani" territory thus means Pakistan exercises no legal sovereignty there and it is perfectly legal for coalition troops to respond to terror attacks in these areas. The fig leaf of Pakistani sovereignty cannot be employed to protect terrorists. Pakistani complaints to the U.N. thus fall on deaf ears at best.
@Acorn Guts: we need to be more vocal about this. There might not be any significant action taken by the UN SC after all but at least we’ll expose this brutality on this international platform.
While you are at it , try and be bit more vocal about all the black operations and proxy wars you have launched on the neighbouring countries too !! Don't forget to mention the issues of sheltering Jihadis and other high value assets!!!
@Moulvi Nawaz Shareef: You need to check up word "Tiny" first as its obvious that you lack that basic capability !! We are talking about 24 Army Personal here not Civilians !!!! Pakistan has had far worse civilian casualties over past few years, so how come all this noise now??? What about the civilians ??? I suppose that was okay as it was done by your so called Assets !!!!!
@ hedgefnder...
There are lot of other issue in regards to Pakistan’s activity that needs to be lppked at by UNSC, before bringing a tiny matter of scuffle in war zone !!!!!
Dude, what about the tiny little Holocaust.....or tiny little 9/11, dude if you want others to respect your sentiment, you should take care of other's sentiments, but you Americans will never learn it!!!!

its ridiculous they are trying to give it a spin. American attack was deliberate They could not bombard the place for two hours without knowing who's below their
@H.A. Khan: All the SGs of UN have been stooges of US...they speak, in their own voice, the sentiments of US
Its a good move but I think that whole UN is compromised and it is being controlled and manipulated by the USA. However, I hope that this act may awaken the so called civilized world.
Good decision, we need to be more vocal about this. There might not be any significant action taken by the UN SC after all but at least we'll expose this brutality on this international platform.
position well utilized
Pakistan Dealing, quite sensible in this matter instead of creating environment of war
US include Nato so Pakistan would not take any action because lots of countries involve in it.. So it is easy to blame Pakistan than Nato or Other countries involve in Afghanistan.
I think that OBL and the Mumbai 24/11 attack should also be bought to the attention of UNSC.
Where Ban Ki Moon?. Why has he not condemned this? .Where is UN condemnation.....
