Urdu poetry: Funeral for Dr Javed Anwar today

Urdu poet Dr Javed Anwar, who passed away on Friday, will be laid to rest today (Monday). Funeral prayers will be held after Maghrib prayers at the EME Housing Society mosque.
Anwar had moved to Austria and was in Pakistan to visit friends and family. He died of a sudden heart attack. His family has arrived in Pakistan from Austria for the funeral.
Anwar was a renowned poet. He is author of three books of modern Urdu poetry including ‘Sheher may shaam’ (An evening in the city), ‘Ashkon kee dhanak’ (The rainbow of tears) and ‘Bheriay soay nahin’ (The wolves are still awake).
Members of Lahore’s literary community have expressed great sorrow at the poet’s demise and expressed sympathy with the family. They prayed that Allah give the family the courage and fortitude to bear his loss.
