Football: Title race is far from over says Guardiola

MADRID: Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola insisted his team are not yet out of the title race, despite falling six points adrift of Real Madrid in the wake of their shock 1-0 defeat to Getafe on Saturday.

Guardiola was confident his team had the ability to recover quickly from the setback.

“The league isn’t over,” he said. “There’s still a long way to go. We’re competing against a great rival and you don’t get many opportunities to slip up, but we’ll recover from this.”

Barcelona now have two more league games, at home to Rayo Vallecano and Levante, before travelling to Real Madrid for the first Clasico of the season on December 10.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo scored two penalties as Real Madrid came back from a goal down to beat their long-suffering neighbours Atletico Madrid. Angel Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain also scored after Atletico had taken the lead through Adrian Lopez.

Elsewhere, Valencia won 2-1 at Rayo Vallecano, while Real Sociedad beat Real Betis 3-2.

Barca is still the best team in the world and should not be underestimated. So Madrid dont get swell headed. But defeat Barca in the 1st classico and Barca will be devastated beyond repair. And Barca will start playing ugly football from then onwards lol. And Madrid will need only to get a draw in the 2nd classico to put Barca into further misery and finally Barca will lose the Champions League altogether. It's Madrid time to exploit Barca's huge 6 pts behind. It's Madrid's liga title to lose.
